Hard-sealed floating ball valve - A simple metal sealing solution for medium and small diameter high-temperature and wear-resistant working conditions

Design concept

The ball is not equipped with a fixed ear shaft. After closing, the medium pressure pushes it towards the downstream valve seat. The sealing pair adopts a fully metal hard sealing structure. The sealing surfaces of the ball and the valve seat are surfacing with hard alloys such as Stellite or tungsten carbide and are precisely ground. Core logic: The sealing force is increased by the self-tightening of the floating ball pressure, and the all-metal seal is used to resist high temperature, particle erosion and high-frequency operation. It provides a simple structure, wear-resistant and long-life isolation element for the harsh working conditions that soft seals below DN200 cannot handle.

Performance advantage

· All-metal hard sealing pair: The sealing surfaces are all made of hard alloy, with no non-metallic components. The upper limit of applicable temperature far exceeds that of PTFE/PEEK, and it remains stable for a long time at high temperatures.

· Pressure self-tightening seal: When closed, the thrust of the medium pushes the ball towards the downstream valve seat. The sealing specific pressure automatically increases with the pressure difference, making the seal more reliable under high-pressure conditions.

· Resistance to particle erosion: The sealing surface of Stellite or tungsten carbide hard alloy has extremely high hardness and can resist the erosion and wear of media containing catalyst powder and solid particles.

· Bidirectional sealing: Symmetrical structure, meeting API 598 gas seal acceptance, bidirectional off from low pressure to high pressure.

· No cold flow creep: The all-metal seal does not have the cold flow deformation problem of PTFE-like materials. The long-term pressure-holding seal does not loosen, and its service life far exceeds that of soft seals.

· Minimalist structure: No ear shafts, bearings or complex piston valve seats. The number of components is approximately 60% of that of fixed balls, making maintenance simple and convenient.

Safety performance

· Intrinsic fire resistance: The all-metal hard sealing pair itself is a fireproof structure. In case of fire, there is no need for non-metallic secondary seals, directly meeting the API 607/6FA requirements.

· Anti-blowout valve stem: Installed from the inside of the valve body, with an inverted sealing step at the bottom, it complies with API 608. The valve stem will not be blown out when the cover is loosened.

· Anti-static conduction: The resistance between the ball, valve stem and valve body is ≤10Ω.

· High-temperature thermal stability: The metal seal matches the thermal expansion coefficient of the valve body, ensuring no jamming or leakage at high temperatures.

· Attention to the pressure in the middle chamber: The liquid trapped in the middle chamber of the floating ball may expand abnormally due to heat, causing an increase in pressure. It is recommended to use a ball with a pressure relief hole or an external discharge valve in high-temperature or temperature-prone situations.

Applicable working conditions

· Medium: High-temperature steam, heat transfer oil, oil slurry containing catalyst powder, high-temperature flue gas, solid-containing process medium

· Scenarios: Branch pipelines of refining and chemical plants, high-temperature steam tracing in power plants, polysilicon production, sulfur recovery, high-temperature sampling systems

· Drive: Handle, pneumatic, electric

· Selection boundary: For high-pressure large diameters above DN150 or Class 600, it is recommended to upgrade to a hard-sealed fixed ball valve
